Who We Are:

California Truck Centers has been owned and operated by the Howard family in Fresno since 1930.  Brothers P.L., Earl, and Roscoe Howard began the business at 701 L Street as Fresno Trailer Company.  At that time they manufactured and sold heavy-duty truck trailers to serve the local agricultural community.  Over time it became difficult to compete with national companies building and selling trailers so the family began selling heavy-duty trucks as Fresno White & Autocar, which later became Fresno Truck Center. 

Earl and Roscoe Howard both passed away at young ages and P.L. went on with the business.  P.L. had one son Gary Howard that became active in the business in 1957.  Gary acted as President of the organization for over 35 years, passing away in 2010.  Over the years, the dealerships of California Truck Centers have won numerous awards including Dealer of the Year from their represented brands. 

Gary had two children Doug and Brenda who have both been active in the business since the early 1980’s. Doug is currently the President of the organization. Additionally, the fourth generation, Lee and Tiffany are full-time employees. 

Over the years, California Truck Centers has expanded to six locations throughout California from Bakersfield to Sacramento becoming one of the larger Freightliner dealer groups in the country, now employing over 400 people.  Our strong commitment to honesty and customer service has made our business thrive and we will continue to be here for our customers for years to come.
